The Thunder picked up a contentious 127-121 overtime win over the visiting Denver Nuggets on Friday night as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander returned from a nine-game absence with 36 points and nine assists. Chet Holmgren went for 15 points, 21 rebounds, and three blocks, and Jared McCain added 14 points off the bench. Lu Dort was ejected in the fourth quarter after a hard foul on Nikola Jokić ignited a scrum between the teams.
With Cooper Flagg out for the sixth straight game with a sprained foot, Dallas took a 124-105 drubbing from the visiting Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. Brandon Williams scored 16 points in the loss, with Daniel Gafford adding 14 points and Dwight Powell posting 13 points and 11 rebounds. Starter P.J. Washington missed his second straight game with a sprained ankle as the Mavericks lost their second in a row and 12th in their last 14 games.
Oklahoma City is 2-0 against the Mavericks this season and can finish a season sweep on Sunday. Gilgeous-Alexander averages 31.9 points and 6.5 assists for the Thunder, with Jalen Williams scoring 17.5 points per game, Holmgren posting 17.2 points and 2.0 blocks a night, and Isaiah Hartenstein getting 10.6 points and 9.5 rebounds per contest. Naji Marshall is Dallas’ top available scorer, averaging 15.4 points, with Khris Middleton netting 13.9 points and Marvin Bagley III contributing 13.0 points and 8.9 rebounds since they arrived from the Washington Wizards in the Anthony Davis trade.
