Xavier Worthy Begins Road to Recovery Following Shoulder Surgery

After a challenging 2025 campaign marked by injury, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has successfully undergone surgery to repair a significant shoulder that hindered his season. Worthy posted on his Instagram story that his procedure, aimed at fixing a fully torn labrum in his shoulder, was successful.

Worthy, the Chiefs’ first‑round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and one of the team’s most explosive offensive weapons, suffered the injury early in the season opener after colliding with teammate Travis Kelce on a crossing route. He missed the next two games before returning in Week 4 and not missing another game until the season finale in Week 18 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

With Kansas City officially eliminated from playoff contention and the club entering its offseason reset, both Worthy and the organization opted for surgical intervention to properly address the injury, a move that now positions him for a healthier and more complete recovery heading into 2026.

Worthy finished the 2025 season with 42 receptions for 532 yards and one touchdown. He also had 87 yards rushing and another score.

Head coach Andy Reid and the Chiefs’ medical staff had previously expressed optimism about Worthy’s recovery timeline and day‑to‑day improvement, though surgery was not initially on the table during much of the 2025 season. With the rehab process now beginning in earnest, teammates and fans alike are hopeful that Worthy, known for his blazing speed and big‑play ability, will return to full strength in time for training camp next summer.
